Temporary Collecton / Group exhibition

17 June, 2016

Kabinetas x Studium P x Juodas Šuo x Kultūros naktis (Culture Night) / Artists: Lukas Danys, Eglė Grėbliauskaitė, Ekvilina Milaševičiūtė, Gedvilė Tamošiūnaitė, Eglė Ulčickaitė

Exhibition ‘Temporary Collection’ is presented as a cabinet of curiosities. It researches the changes in the institutional art field and the contemporary ways of capturing reality. Cabinets of curiosities, as the precursors of museums, collected artworks, elements of animate and inanimate nature, and unexpected objects. These cabinets were witnesses of their surroundings, allowing to observe and study the human reality. Now this theme is explored not only by museums, but by galleries and project spaces as well, presenting exhibitions that strive to show how the world can be perceived.

Individual or institutional collection, gathered as a systematic witness of the human and his past, can become a statement about the present and a reading of the future. ‘Temporary Collection’ is an art collection-exhibition, open for several hours as a reflection of an ephemeral reality.
