Translated from Portuguese, SOBRETUDO means a coat, or literally – about everything. In this case, the works of five young artists are brought together by accident. For a brief moment one room becomes an abode for five art pieces, and the thing that unites them could, perhaps, be called a necessity.
This necessity – a condition for SOBRETUDO’s works to emerge – is what makes Andrius Ivanovas search for an intergalactic language, Viktorija Damerell open speechless gaps in the mundane, Barbora Matonytė follow her own-intensified allusions of things, Mikalojus Smulskis hunt, hoard and crystalize sounds from the environment, and Ona Juciūtė tailor coats for chairs while looking for their souls. Starting with the coat, we’ll slip into everything. Sobretudo.
